Student Achievement at Texas State University

Texas State University encourages student achievement by embedding goals related to enrollment and student success in four foundational pillars of our 2023-2029 Strategic Plan - "Hopes and Aspirations High". Our goals to "Increase Recruitment and Enrollment", "Enhance the Round Rock Campus", "Elevate Student Success", and "Run to R1" each contain key performance metrics designed to foster and encourage success of our students.

In an effort to expand access, Texas State is committed to increasing our enrollment of both first time in college and transfer students through expansion of our regional campus partnerships with 2-year institutions, enrollment in online programs, and international engagements. This focus on increasing enrollment also extends to encouraging growth at our Round Rock location through expanded program offerings. At the same time, Texas State strives to keep college affordable by maintaining a lower cost of attendance for our students.

To demonstrate student success, the university monitors a variety of performance measures related to the retention, persistence, and graduation rates of our first time in college and transfer students as well as the persistence and outcomes of our graduate students. This is emphasized again in our focus on successful doctoral degree completion as part of our pursuit of the R1 designation.
